By Iris De La Torre
Iris' starting point in making the CATS collection was the symbolic and mystic connotations and beliefs that many cultures around the world and throughout history have held about cats. Felines are aesthetically beautiful and elegant animals and Iris wanted to represent them in a collection of 4 different cats with different personalities.
The jaguar is the largest cat in the American continent and one of the world’s most beautiful felines. In my country Mexico, and in Mayan culture, this animal symbolizes the God of the night sky and the ruler of the underworld. The jaguar represents strength, beauty, agility, power, ferocity and valour and one’s ability to face one’s own fears. On this jaguar design the jaguar is depicted as being calm but alert.
The Jaguar brooch is made out of shimmering copper orange acrylic with a striking graphic black printed eye and pattern and a base metal silver plated pin bar. It comes with a gift box and a card with a graphic illustration of the jaguar.
